As most of you would be aware, the Australian market is facing dire shortages of Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) and F17 Hardwood.
Rather than let this drastically delay or, in fact, stop your projects, why not have a discussion with your engineer and designer and substitute these members with F27 KD hardwood?
In almost all cases, smaller members can be used due to the higher strength grade and it often doesn’t work out to be that much more expensive across the project.
Recently, one of our clients was unable to finish a house frame because he could not source the F17 equivalent LVL’s needed for his lintels and load studs. By speaking to his engineer, he was able to substitute these members with a smaller sectional profile of F27 KDHW and complete the frame, meaning he was able to receive the progress payment for that part of the build.
We have excellent stock holdings and reliable, ongoing supply of members in the following sizes:
90 x 45mm: 2.4m-3.9m- $XX.XX LM – 4.2m-5.7m- $XX.XXLM
140 x 45mm: 2.4m-3.9m- $XX.XX LM – 4.2m-5.7m- $XX.XXLM
190 x 45mm: 2.4m-3.9m- $XX.XX LM – 4.2m-5.7m- $XX.XXLM
240 x 45mm: 2.4m-3.9m- $XX.XX LM – 4.2m-5.7m- $XX.XXLM
290 x 45mm: 2.4m-3.9m- $XX.XX LM – 4.2m-5.7m- $XX.XXLM
Don’t let the uncertainty of supply stop you from taking on new builds whilst the market is so hot. Those who are agile and can rapidly adapt will thrive. All of the advice we have received from relevant industry bodies is that this shortage is not going away any time soon, but neither is the public’s appetite for building works to be completed. Think outside of the box and consider using some F27 to keep your projects moving forward. Call us to place your order today.
